Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski on Saturday announced that vehicles with Russian license plates will be prohibited from entering Poland beginning at midnight.

Kaminski made the announcement during a press conference near the Belarusian border, Poland’s news agency PAP reported.

The news agency quoted Kaminski as saying: “Russian trucks were already included in this ban. Now we are closing this issue. No Russian car will be allowed to enter Poland.”

He added that the entry of Russian-registered passenger vehicles into Poland will be prohibited from midnight onwards.

The ban would apply to all vehicles, both commercial and private, regardless of whether the vehicle owner is a Russian citizen or a citizen of another country.

Earlier on Friday, three Baltic states, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, as well as Finland, announced a ban on the entry of vehicles with Russian license plates.

Poland has become the fifth country to announce the implementation of this ban.
