Philadelphia 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey wins NBA Most Improved Player

ISTANBUL

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey won the NBA Most Improved Player of the Year Award, the NBA confirmed on Tuesday.

“It feels great,” Tyrese Maxey said in a statement. “Somebody like myself, who prides myself on putting in a lot of work and outworking people and finding ways to get 1% better every single time I step in the gym, it feels good for that to come to light, honestly,” Maxey added.

In his fourth NBA season, Maxey, 23, set new career highs averaging 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds.

The guard edged second-place Chicago’s Coby White and third-place Houston’s Alperen Sengun in the voting.

White, 24, averaged 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game — all career highs.

Sengun, 21, averaged 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 steals in 32.5 minutes per game — also all career highs.

Turkish center Sengun finished with 92 points for third.
