Women’s tennis world no. 17 Ons Jabeur announced Friday that she will miss the 2024 US Open.
“I am truly sad to announce that my shoulder won’t recover in time for the US Open,” the Tunisian tennis player wrote on Instagram.
“I feel I need to give 100% and today it’s not possible yet. Life has ups and downs, but sometimes in the very negative moments we all need to find the positive in it,” she added.
The 2022 and 2023 Wimbledon finalist, who has struggled with several injuries this year, had to withdraw from the Mubadala Citi Open, a hard-court tournament in Washington, in August.
Jabeur, 29, was expected to be replaced by Elise Mertens as the number 33 seed in the competition draw.
