Mohamed Elneny extends his contract with Arsenal

ANKARA

Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny has extended his contract with Arsenal, it was announced on Tuesday. He will stay with the English club until June 2024.

“I’m so happy, I love this club and our supporters so much and I’ll give everything to help us be the best we can be, every day I’m here,” the 30-year-old said in a statement.

“It makes me so proud to have represented this amazing club since 2016. The spirit and togetherness we have in our squad right now is so positive and I’m so happy I have extended my contract.”

In a separate tweet, he said a “new chapter” has begun in his journey with Arsenal. “I just signed a new contract. Arsenal for me isn’t just a club I joined 7 years ago, which makes me the longest serving player currently. Arsenal is home, family, happiness, growth, and ambition. My Arsenal family, I love you.”

Elneny, who played for Turkish club Besiktas in the 2019-2020 season, netted six goals and made 10 assists in his 155 appearances for Arsenal and bagged the 2017 FA Cup with the Gunners.

He also netted eight goals in 91 caps for Egypt’s national team.
