September 18, 2024 3:14 pmTurkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar held talks with his counterparts and private sector representatives during the Gastech 2024 Conference in Houston, US.
As part of the ministry’s foreign energy policy, Bayraktar met with Egyptian Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi, India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Shri Hardeep S. Puri and Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ekperikpe Ekpo on the sidelines of the conference.
Bayraktar shared a series of posts on X highlighting his discussions with counterparts and key leaders in the energy sector during his visit to the US.
During his meeting with Egypt’s Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Badawi, the parties discussed cooperation opportunities between the two countries ,’within the framework of our investments in natural gas infrastructure,’ Bayraktar said.
The two ministers agreed to meet again to discuss concrete steps.
Bayraktar and India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Puri identified the common challenges and opportunities in the energy transformation process and evaluated possible partnerships.
In a meeting with Ekpo, Nigeri’s minister of state for petroleum resources, the Turkish minister expressed their shared commitment to taking concrete steps to develop relations between the two nations in the hydrocarbon sector, aiming to elevate them beyond their current potential.
– Opportunities with private sector explored
Bayraktar also held separate meetings with Russel Hardy, CEO of Vitol, and Lorenzo Simonelli, CEO of Baker Hughes.
Bayraktar said that discussions were held to explore new cooperation opportunities with the two companies currently engaged in joint hydrocarbon projects with an aim to strengthen partnerships for the future.
As part of his US visit, Bayraktar also met with Geoffrey Pyatt, US assistant secretary for energy resources.
‘We discussed the reflections of current developments in the region on the energy sector and the joint steps we can take towards the energy supply security of our region,’ he added.
Earlier today, Bayraktar announced a long-term LNG agreement between Turkish national company BOTAS and TotalEnergies.
The 10-year-deal will start in 2027, and will deliver 16 LNG cargoes of up to 1.6 billion cubic meters per year.
