Mathys Tel, who came from Rennes in July at age 17 years and 136 days, scores against Stuttgart

ANKARA

Slovenian basketball star Luka Doncic displayed a solid performance to score 35 points as his nation beat Belgium 88-72 in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 last 16 on Saturday in Berlin.

Doncic, a Dallas Mavericks small forward, scored at least 30 points in three games in a row.

The 23-year-old previously tallied 36 points against Germany and scored 47 points against France in the EuroBasket group phase.

On Saturday, Klemen Prepelic scored 13 points against Belgium, and Mike Tobey had 12 points for Slovenia at the Mercedes-Benz Arena to contribute to the victory against the Belgians.

Slovenia’s experienced guard Goran Dragic added 11 points.

Emmanuel Lecomte led Belgium as he scored 16 points for his team.

Pierre-Antoine Gillet clocked up 15 points for Belgium. He also grabbed 10 rebounds to post a double-double.

Lecomte and Gillet were the only Belgian players to score in double digits.

After the loss, Belgium have been eliminated.

In the last eight, Slovenia will face either Ukraine or Poland.

Earlier Saturday, France reached the EuroBasket quarterfinals over a 87-86 win against Türkiye.
