Martin Odegaard signs new long-term deal with Arsenal

ISTANBUL

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard inked a new long-term deal with the London club on Friday.

“Signing a new contract was a really easy decision for me for lots of reasons. Mainly what we are doing right now as a club is special, and I want to be a part of that,” Odegaard said in a statement.

Odegaard, who has been playing for Arsenal since 2021, helped the club win the 2023/2024 English Super Cup.

The 24-year-old midfielder has previously played for RM Castilla, Heerenveen, Real Madrid, and Real Sociedad.

Manager Mikel Arteta heaped praises on Odegaard, saying, “He is our captain and a hugely respected person at our club, who is a great role model and professional, bringing quality and maturity in everything he does.”

He has 53 caps, scoring three goals for Norway.

However, the deal’s financial and duration details were not disclosed.
