Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in a Wednesday English Premier League match.

Brazilian midfielder Fred’s deflected shot outside the area beat Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as Manchester United took the lead in the 47th minute at Old Trafford.

A classy strike in the 69th minute by home team Manchester United’s Portuguese attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes made the result 2-0 for the Red Devils.

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo headed to the tunnel a few minutes before the match ended, appearing frustrated because the 37-year-old remained a substitute during the game.

Fifth in the standings, Manchester United increased their points to 19 in 10 matches.

Tottenham Hotspur are third with 23 points.

Their archrivals Arsenal have 27 points to lead the Premier League.

In another match of the night, Liverpool beat West Ham United 1-0 at Anfield Stadium as Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez scored the winning goal in the 22nd minute.

Liverpool are seventh with 16 points. West Ham United moved to 13th spot with 11 points.
