Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood has been released on bail following a closed-door court hearing.
Greenwood, who has been charged with assault, attempted rape, and coercive behavior, was granted bail after the hearing at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.
Greenwood had been in custody since Monday over an alleged breach of his bail conditions.
The crown court also ordered him to stay at his rented home in Bowdon, Greater Manchester and he is not allowed to contact the complainant or witnesses.
On Jan. 30, Greenwood, 21, was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault after police became aware of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.
Greenwood was later released on bail following his arrest on suspicion of rape, assault, and threatening to kill a woman.
Manchester United has suspended the forward until further notice, while video game developer EA Sports also took action by removing Greenwood from FIFA products.
Greenwood joined the team’s academy at age 6 and rose through the ranks, making his first appearance in 2019, where he became the youngest goal scorer in European competition at 17.
The winger also represented the under-17 and under-21 England national squad before being chosen for the senior team in 2020.
He also played once for England’s national team.
