The English Premier League on Thursday released its 2023-2024 fixtures as the new season will begin with champions Manchester City’s game against Burnley in August.
Manchester City will visit their former title winning captain Vincent Kompany’s Burnley in the opening match on Aug. 11 at Turf Moor.
Belgian national Kompany, 37, was a Manchester City defender in 2008-2019 to win four English Premier League titles.
Kompany was hired in 2022 for the manager role to promote Burnley to the Premier League in April, winning the second-tier Championship division.
The opening week will also see a tough match between Chelsea and Liverpool on Aug. 13 at London’s Stamford Bridge.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool want to return to top of the league after a disappointing 2022-23 season for each team.
There will be 380 matches to be played this season.
The 2023-24 Premier League campaign will end on May 19, 2024 almost a month before the EURO 2024 finals in Germany.
