Lucas Moraes claimed victory in the seventh stage of the rally in the car class, while Daniel Sanders triumphed in the bike class on Sunday.
The seventh stage of the 47th Dakar Rally, held in Saudi Arabia, occurred in Al Duwadimi on a 419-kilometer track.
In the car class, Lucas Moraes from the Toyota Gazoo team secured his first stage victory of the rally with a time of four hours, one minute, and 49 seconds.
Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom (Ford M-Sport) claimed second place in the stage, finishing seven minutes and 41 seconds behind the leader, while the US’s Mitchell Guthrie (Ford M-Sport) secured third place, trailing by nine minutes and 28 seconds.
In the general classification, South Africa’s Henk Lategan (Toyota Gazoo) maintained the lead with a time of 37 hours, 13 minutes, and eight seconds, holding a narrow 21-second advantage over Saudi Arabia’s Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive).
Sanders wins his 5th stage on motorcycles
In the bike class, Daniel Sanders from the Red Bull KTM team left his rivals behind with a time of four hours, 10 minutes, and 33 seconds.
Australian driver Daniel Sanders was trailed by Spain’s Edgar Canet (Red Bull KTM), who secured second place, finishing three minutes and 36 seconds behind. Spain’s Tosha Schareina (Monster Energy Honda) took third place, three minutes and 47 seconds off the leader.
Sanders retained his lead in the general classification with a cumulative time of 39 hours, 29 minutes, and 22 seconds, holding a 15-minute and 33-second advantage over second-placed Schareina.
The 8th stage is scheduled for Monday, covering a 487-kilometer route between Al Duwadimi and Riyadh.
The iconic rally will conclude on Jan. 17 in Shubaytah.
