Liverpool solidified their position at the top of the English Premier League table after defeating Chelsea 2-1 under the guidance of coach Arne Slot. This victory marks Liverpool’s seventh win in their first eight matches.
Other top teams across Europe, Barcelona in La Liga, Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, Napoli in Serie A, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1, all maintained leading positions in their respective leagues.
Defending champions Manchester City remained in pursuit of the top spot, securing a 2-1 away victory over Wolverhampton.
Arsenal, who entered the week undefeated, suffered a setback with a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth, dropping them to third place.
As week 8 concluded, Liverpool led the Premier League with 21 points, followed closely by Manchester City with 20 points and Arsenal 17 points.
PSG Takes Lead in Ligue 1
In France’s Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain jumped to the top after a thrilling 4-2 victory over Strasbourg.
Monaco, which started the week in first place, were held to a goalless draw against Lille.
Olympique Marseille, a contender for the summit, triumphed over Montpellier with a dominant 5-0 performance.
Currently, PSG sit at the top with 20 points, while Monaco trail in second on goal difference. Olympique Marseille follow with 17 points.
Barcelona Dominates La Liga
In Spain, Barcelona maintained their lead in La Liga with a resounding 5-1 victory over Sevilla, featuring two goals each from Robert Lewandowski and Pablo Torre.
Real Madrid, remaining undefeated, defeated Celta Vigo 2-1 on the road, while Atletico Madrid secured a 3-1 win over Leganes. Villarreal settled for a 1-1 draw with Getafe.
After Matchday 10, Barcelona lead with 27 points, followed by Real Madrid with 24 and Atletico Madrid 20.
Bayern Munich lead Bundesliga on goal difference
In the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich continued to dominate with a 4-0 victory over Stuttgart, where Harry Kane scored a hat-trick. RB Leipzig kept pace with a 2-0 win against Mainz, while Borussia Dortmund, coached by Nuri Sahin, edged past St. Pauli 2-1.
As week seven concluded, Bayern Munich led the league with 17 points, ahead of Leipzig on goal difference, while Freiburg followed closely with 15 points.
Napoli Maintains Lead in Serie A
In Italy’s Serie A, Napoli secured their position at the top with a narrow 1-0 away victory over Empoli, thanks to a goal from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Inter Milan also achieved a slim win against Roma, while Juventus defeated Lazio 1-0 at home.
After week 8, Napoli lead the Serie A table with 19 points, with Inter Milan close behind at 17 and Juventus 16 points.
