Liverpool hammered Newcastle United 4-2 in an English Premier League week 20 match on Monday.
After a goalless first half at Anfield, the hosts’ Egyptian star Mohamed Salah broke the deadlock in the 49th minute when he converted his chance from a pass by Darwin Nunez.
Five minutes later, Newcastle’s Swedish striker Alexander Isak leveled the score with a right-footed shot from the left side of the box to the bottom right corner.
English midfielder Curtis Jones’ right-footed touch from very close range brought the lead to the Reds once more in the 74th minute. Then Dutch player Cody Gakpo made it 3-1 four minutes later.
Newcastle’s Dutch defender Sven Botman followed a corner kick well and took one back for his team in the 81st minute.
After Liverpool’s Diogo Jota drew a foul in the penalty area, Salah netted once more from a penalty kick in the 86th minute.
Liverpool grabbed the Premier League top seat with 45 points, while Newcastle United placed ninth with 29 points.
