English Premier League team Liverpool aim to extend their five-match winning streak in the UEFA Champions League against upcoming group phase week 6 fixture against Spanish side Girona on Tuesday.
Undefeated Reds, which have already secured their spot in the round of 16 or knockout phase play-offs, seek to maintain their good run after 2-0 home triumph over Real Madrid last week.
Following the win, Liverpool’s new head coach Arne Slot, who arrived in July, said: “If we meet them (Real Madrid) in the last 16 and then we are able to beat them it would be a bigger statement.”
Liverpool have won 16 of their last 17 Champions League group/league phase matches.
Girona, which were the unexpected contenders in the Spanish LaLiga last season, have gained three points from five games in the Champions League this season.
“The challenge is there and at home, with our people, we will have to turn it around. The three games are key and we will try to win, at least, the two at home to get into the next phase,” Girona head coach Michel said.
