Leaders Portugal to face Slovakia in EURO quals, tough game on road

ANKARA

Group leaders Portugal will visit Slovakia in the UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers, a tough game for Roberto Martinez’s men on the road on Friday.

The EURO 2024 qualifiers returns this week as the matchday five will begin on Thursday.

Portugal, the EURO 2016 champions, are going flawless in Group J as they won all their four matches to be on top.

Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portuguese national team are on fire in the offense, scoring 14 goals but they are also good at defending their goal. Portugal conceded none in this group.

Ronaldo, 38, is still Portugal’s main goal threat, as the experienced forward scored five goals in four matches.

Second-place Slovakia have 10 points to be after Portugal, so they are eyeing the top spot.

Slovakia drew their opener against Luxembourg 0-0 at home in March, but then they bagged three wins in a row to be top spot contenders.

However an away win in Bratislava would make Portugal feel much comfortable.

Following the Slovakia match, Portugal will host Luxembourg at home on Sept. 11. Luxembourg are third with seven points.

Bosnia-Herzegovina are fourth with three points. Iceland have three points as well.

Liechtenstein are at the bottom of the group after losing four matches.

The Slovakia vs. Portugal match will start at 1845GMT.
