Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel joined French Ligue 1 team OGC Nice from Leicester City, the English Premier League club has announced.
The 35-year-old left Leicester City after 11 seasons with the Premier League side.
“Throughout his time with us and particularly as a captain and vice-captain, Kasper has always been a player willing to stand up and take responsibility, leading the team with distinction,” City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said late Wednesday. “His influence and his leadership on and off the pitch speak volumes about him as a professional, as a football player and as a human being.”
The details of his contract with the French club have not been disclosed.
Kasper Schmeichel, son of the legendary goalie Peter Schmeichel, is now number three on Leicester City’s all-time appearance list with 479.
He helped the English club bag one Premier League title in 2016 and one FA Cup in 2021.
