Karmod completes 9 steel bank branches in Türkiye’s quake zones

ISTANBUL

Turkish building manufacturer Karmod on Wednesday said it completed the construction of the ninth lightweight steel bank branch across Türkiye’s earthquake-affected areas.

The company has recently been serving four different banks within the quake zone.

Karmod said the prefabricated steel system employed in the banks allows for swift assembly and deployment in disaster-stricken areas, facilitating quicker service resumption.

Karmod Sales Manager Ozay Kemal Karakucuk said the latest branch in downtown Hatay was erected in just 20 days.

“Our ongoing projects include not only bank branches but also cargo offices, supermarket chains, and commercial offices, utilizing our safe and efficient prefab steel structures,” Karakucuk stated.

He said the company had so far completed the construction of nine bank branches: five in Hatay and four in Adiyaman.

Karmod responded to the earthquake’s immediate aftermath by producing containers for emergency housing. The focus has since shifted to permanent constructions such as homes and commercial buildings.

According to Karakucuk, the bank branches are tailored to the specific dimensions and space requirements of the sites, with sizes varying from 212 to 353 square meters. The design includes a 3-meter eave height to enhance spaciousness and a parapet system to ease the application of banks’ corporate signage.
