Japan will host a virtual Group of 7 summit on Wednesday to discuss a myriad of issues, including the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, local media reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also set to attend the summit that would be hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, as Japan wraps up its role as this year’s rotating chair, Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported

Italy will take over the G-7 presidency from Japan next year.

Apart from the situation in the Middle East, the G-7 leaders are also expected to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at a press conference.

An international comprehensive framework on advanced artificial intelligence will also likely be on the agenda.

The G-7 involves Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the US plus the EU.
