Italy beat USA in straight sets to win gold in women’s volleyball at Olympic Games

ISTANBUL

Italy defeated reigning champions USA in straight sets to clinch the gold medal in women’s volleyball at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

The Italians bagged their first Olympic volleyball gold with sets of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-17 at South Paris Arena 1.

With this win, Italy became the seventh country to hold Olympic gold medals among women, joining the former Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Brazil, Japan, and the United States.

Brazil won the bronze medal on Saturday after defeating Türkiye 3-1 in the bronze medal match.
