Italian Serie A to kick off Saturday with 4 clashes

The 2023-2024 season of the Italian Serie A will kick off with four matches this weekend.

In the season opener on Saturday, defending champion Napoli will visit Frosinone at Benito Stirpe at 1630 GMT and Empoli will host Hellas Verona at Carlo Castellani Computer Gross Arena simultaneously.

 

 

At 1845 GMT, Inter Milan will play against Monza on their home ground, Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, while Genoa will take on Fiorentina at Genoa da Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

Last season, Napoli ended a 33-year drought to be crowned Serie A champions.

The team clinched its first Serie A title since Argentine legend Diego Maradona broke a sweat for the club from 1984 to 1991.

The Argentine superstar led Napoli to its only Serie A titles in 1987 and 1990.

Napoli are the most valuable team in the Italian top division with a worth of €575 million ($624 million).

Second-place AC Milan are valued at €552 million ($600 million), while Inter Milan are third with a valuation of €498 million ($541 million).

Juventus won 36 Italian league titles, 14 Italian Cups and nine Italian Super Cups to dominate the local competitions. Bianconeri are followed by Inter Milan and AC Milan with 19 titles and Genoa with nine championships.

Italy’s historic stadium of San Siro, home to AC Milan and Inter Milan, is the country’s largest football stadium, with a total capacity of 80,018 spectators.
