Iranian forward Mehdi Taremi joins Inter Milan

ANKARA

Iranian forward Mehdi Taremi joined Inter Milan on Saturday, the Italian football powerhouse confirmed.

In a statement, Inter said that Taremi, 31, signed a contract with the Nerazzurri until 2027.

“Hi Inter fans! I am Mehdi Taremi. I am looking forward to see you in San Siro (Inter’s home stadium). Together we will achieve great things!” Taremi, the first Iranian player in Inter’s history, said in a video on X after joining the Milan club.

Taremi told Inter that he is happy to be an Inter player, saying it’s “like a dream and the best moment” in his life.

He left Porto after spending four seasons in Portugal. Taremi scored 91 goals in 182 appearances for Porto to help it win a Portuguese title and three Portuguese Cups.

Taremi scored 50 goals in 85 matches for Iran and represented his nation at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Before his time at Porto, Taremi played for Iran’s Persepolis, Qatar’s Al-Gharafa, and Portugal’s Rio Ave.
