Hundreds of thousands of protesters in German cities demonstrate against far-right

COLOGNE, Germany

Hundreds of thousands of protesters came together Saturday in German cities to protest racism and the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

About 100,000 protestors gathered in Dusseldorf under the slogan: “We will not remain silent against AfD” as they criticized racism, xenophobia and right-wing extremism in Germany.

They were carrying anti-racism banners and chanted slogans against the AfD.

In Aachen, on the border with the Netherlands, many politicians from various parties participated in the demonstration against racism and supported the demonstrators.

In Kiel, police announced that about 11,500 people participated in a rally organized against the far right.
