Germany’s industrial production down in September

ISTANBUL

Germany’s industrial production decreased by 1.4% on a monthly and 3.7% on a yearly basis in September, official figures showed on Tuesday.

Industrial production has been decreasing for four consecutive months on a monthly basis, Destatis said.

“The less volatile quarter on quarter comparison showed that production was 2.1% lower in the 3rd quarter of 2023 than in the 2nd quarter,” it added.

Excluding energy and construction, the industrial production decreased by 1.7% month-on-month in September.

The production of capital goods decreased by 0.2%, the production of intermediate goods fell by 1.9% and that of consumer goods by 4.9% in September versus August.

“Outside industry, energy production dropped by 1.7% in September 2023,” and “production in construction remained unchanged from the previous month.”
