Germany registers $18.5B foreign trade surplus in March

ISTANBUL

Germany’s foreign trade balance posted a surplus of €16.7 billion ($18.5 billion) in March, federal statistical bureau Destatis announced Thursday.

The country’s exports totaled €129.7 billion in March, up by 5% on a yearly basis, while imports amounted to €113 billion, down 5.5% year-on-year.

On a monthly basis, both exports and imports posted declines, falling 5.2% and 6.4%, respectively.

Germany’s exports to EU countries were at €69.3 billion in March, while imports from these countries totaled €60 billion.

Its exports to non-EU nations amounted to €60.4 billion and imports from them were at $53 billion.

Germany’s exports to Russia totaled €900 million in March, up by 3.9% versus March 2022, while imports from Russia fell 92.6%.
