England manager Gareth Southgate resigned after their EURO 2024 final defeat against Spain, the English Football Association confirmed on Tuesday.
“As a proud Englishman, it has been the honour of my life to play for England and to manage England. It has meant everything to me, and I have given it my all. But it’s time for change, and for a new chapter. Sunday’s final in Berlin against Spain was my final game as England manager,” Southgate said in a statement.

On Sunday, Spain beat England 2-1 to win the UEFA EURO 2024 title at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
Joining England in 2011, Southgate led the Three Lions to reach the EURO 2020 final, suffering the defeat to Italy, and the 2018 World Cup semifinal, when Croatia beat them.
During his playing career, the 53-year-old appeared for Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Middlesbrough.
