French foreign minister arrives in China for 2-day official visit

ISTANBUL

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna arrived in China on Thursday for a two-day official trip.

Colonna will be hosted by her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi for high-level talks.

Wang and Colonna will co-host the sixth meeting of the China-France high-level dialogue mechanism on people-to-people exchanges, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The two sides will also prepare for the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year. Economic data shows the annual trade between France and China hovers around $81 billion.

The Beijing trip by Colonna, who is also Paris’ EU affairs minister, comes as the European bloc has initiated an anti-subsidy probe into imports of electric vehicles from China.
