French Football Federation president Le Graet resigns from his post

ISTANBUL

The president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noel Le Graet, quit his position, a French media outlet confirmed on Tuesday.

The French sports daily L’Equipe reported that “as expected,” Noel Le Graet presented his resignation from the presidency of the federation during the executive committee.

In January, prosecutors in Paris opened an investigation into claims of sexual harassment after football agent Sonia Souid made accusations against Le Graet.

He stepped aside from his duties as the head of the federation, just days after making dismissive comments about football legend Zinedine Zidane. He also apologized for his remarks.

The 81-year-old faced several claims of sexual harassment, and the federation is also the target of an investigation ordered by France’s Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera.

Le Graet, who had been in charge of the FFF since 2011, was re-elected for a four-year term last March.
