France’s annual inflation rises to 6% in January

ISTANBUL

France’s annual inflation rate was at 6% in January, up from 5.9% in December 2022, official figures showed on Friday.

The slight increase stemmed from food prices being 13.3% higher and a 16.3% rise in energy prices.

The monthly inflation rate was at 0.4% in January, up from minus 0.1% in December.

“The prices of energy rebounded due to the increase in petroleum product prices, partly due to the end of fuel rebates, and the rise, in part supervised, in gas prices,” it added.
