Feyenoord grab belated 4-0 win against Ajax to complete suspended match

ISTANBUL

Feyenoord shutout Ajax 4-0 Wednesday to complete a match that was suspended during the weekend after fans threw flares onto the pitch.

The match was suspended after the incident at Ajax’s home ground, the Johan Cruyff Arena.

The referee decided to halt the Eredivisie week six match with Feyenoord leading 3-0 in the 55th minute.

The Dutch top-tier football clubs resumed the match Wednesday and Feyenoord wasted no time making it 4-0 when Santiago Gimenez scored in the 59th minute for a hat-trick in the stadium without fans.

Gimenez scored two goals in the ninth and 18th minutes while another goal came from Igor Paixao in the 37th minute.

Ajax, who have had a bad start to the season with just one win, are 14th with five points while Feyenoord are third with 14 points in the standings.
