Fenerbahce Beko lose in Italy, EuroLeague leaders Real Madrid on 9-0 run

Turkish basketball club Fenerbahce Beko were handed a 87-79 loss at Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Thursday while Turkish Airlines EuroLeague leaders Real Madrid are on a perfect 9-0 run with a 99-75 win against ALBA Berlin.

Fenerbahce Beko suffered their fourth loss in a row after they were beaten by Virtus Segafredo Bologna in a Round 10 game in Italy.

The game was tight by the end of the second quarter as Virtus Segafredo Bologna were on a 46-44 lead. But the Italian club extended the gap against Fenerbahce Beko in the third quarter, which ended 70-58.

Johnathan Motley, a Fenerbahce Beko center, produced 25 points to be the game’s top scorer.

Winning team Virtus Segafredo Bologna was led by Tornike Shengelia as the Georgian forward racked up 15 points.

Scottie Wilbekin produced 13 points for the visitors, and Nigel Hayes-Davis added 10 points for Fenerbahce Beko. Motley, Wilbekin and Hayes-Davis were the only Fenerbahce players to have scored in double digits.

Daniel Hackett, an Italian guard with Virtus Segafredo Bologna, scored 14 points to help his team take a home win. Ognjen Dobric had 11 and Devontae Cacok scored 10 points.

In Round 11, Fenerbahce Beko will face unbeaten leaders Real Madrid in Istanbul on Nov. 30.

Fenerbahce Beko are ninth in the standings after winning five games out of 10. Virtus Segafredo Bologna have a 7-3 win/loss record to be in third spot.

Real Madrid are dominating the 2023-24 EuroLeague campaign as the Whites won all nine of their games in the tournament.

The Spanish powerhouse last beat their German opponents ALBA Berlin 99-75 on Thursday evening at Madrid’s WiZink Center.

Real Madrid’s Croatian forward Mario Hezonja was the game’s top scorer with 26 points.

Gabriele Procida, ALBA Berlin’s Italian guard, led his team after tallying 14 points.

ALBA Berlin are at the bottom of the EuroLeague table after losing nine games in 10 rounds.

Real Madrid will visit Israel’s Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv on Nov. 28 in a rescheduled Round 6 game in Belgrade.

Their meeting was originally scheduled for Nov. 2, but the game was previously postponed and its venue was changed after the Israel-Hamas conflict erupted in Gaza in October.
