A far-right Greek political party has asked European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to invite billionaire Elon Musk to speak at the legislature, the party announced Tuesday.

The request was made in a letter signed by European lawmaker Emmanouil Fragkos, who represents the Greek far-right party Greek Solution in the European Parliament. “As part of our efforts to host distinguished and symbolically significant guests, we propose extending an invitation to Elon Musk to address a plenary session,” the letter stated.

“We recognize the motivations that have driven his groundbreaking achievements, his visionary perspective on global progress, and his insights that could make the EU a hub of creativity and technological advancement, again,” Fragkos praised Musk’s achievements and vision.

Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and owner of social media platform X, has been a polarizing figure in political discourse. He has previously voiced support for Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Recently, Musk used X to criticize Britain’s Labour government over its handling of a historic child abuse scandal.

Last week, Musk accused British Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips of being a “rape genocide apologist” and called for her imprisonment, as well as for Labour leader and Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step down over alleged failures in prosecuting grooming gangs. He also conducted a poll on X asking followers if “America should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government.”

On Monday, Starmer indirectly addressed Musk’s comments during a press conference, denouncing the spread of misinformation and “far-right rhetoric.”
