The International Energy Agency (IEA) said European countries will face a jet fuel shortage within the next six weeks as supply from the Middle East drops due to the ongoing war in Iran.
The IEA told Anadolu on Thursday that the situation depends on the ability of European countries to import fuel from international markets to replace lost supply from the Middle East.
The agency stated that the Middle East accounts for 75% of net jet fuel imports in Europe.
Energy prices soared and shortages in various fuel types appeared following the start of the war in Iran, which triggered the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on energy plants.
Accelerating fuel costs and shortages caused flight disruptions and cancellations while governments in Asia and Europe worked to eliminate the negative impacts.
