European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she coordinated actions with the International Energy Agency (IEA) regarding oil stock releases agreed by the G7.
Von der Leyen said on US social media platform X on Thursday that energy prices remain a top concern for citizens and businesses across the EU.
The commission chief highlighted that she coordinated the joint measures with IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol following the agreement reached by the Group of Seven nations.
She noted that the European Commission held strategic dialogue with refineries last week to help boost production at this critical moment.
Underlining long-term energy strategy, von der Leyen stressed that the future for the EU lies in electrification powered by homegrown clean energy from both renewables and nuclear power.
She added that the bloc will work to accelerate electrification together with partners at the upcoming COP31 climate conference in the Turkish resort city of Antalya.
