The English Premier League will see the Manchester City vs. Arsenal clash this weekend as the title contenders will meet at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium in Sunday’s duel.
Manchester City won all their four matches to lead the Premier League with 12 points. Second-place Arsenal have 10 points before their visit to Manchester.
Meanwhile, third-place Newcastle United have 10 points, and the Magpies can reach higher ranks in standings depending on the results of their fixture and the Man City vs. Arsenal showdown. Newcastle will meet Fulham on Saturday in London.
In their previous fixture on Sept. 14, Man City beat Brentford 2-1 by coming from behind as Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland scored twice at Etihad.
Man City forward Haaland made an excellent start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign as he scored nine goals in four matches.
The 24-year-old made hat-tricks against Ipswich Town on Aug. 24, and West Ham United on Aug. 31. He will be Man City’s main goal threat during the Arsenal match.
This season in the Premier League, London’s Arsenal beat Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw at their home ground Emirates Stadium before their derby win by 1-0 at Tottenham on Sept. 15.
The Arsenal pair in the midfield, Mikel Merino of Spain and Norway’s Martin Odegaard, still have injury problems.
London club’s new signing Merino, who joined from Real Sociedad, had his shoulder fractured in his first training session at the Gunners in late August to be out for weeks.
Arsenal captain and attacking midfielder Odegaard suffered from an ankle injury on international duty to be ineligible.
Both Merino and Odegaard missed the Tottenham derby last weekend.
The Man City vs. Arsenal fixture, which is the match of the week in England, will begin at 1530GMT on Sunday.
