July 7, 2023 1:42 pmThe daily electricity consumption reached a record high level totaling 1,023,756 megawatt-hours due to rising temperatures, electricity demand, agricultural irrigation, and the heavy use of air conditioners countrywide on Thursday, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Friday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 49,040 megawatt-hours at 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed.
The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 33,146 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).
Electricity production reached 1,014,614 megawatt-hours on Thursday.
Electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 23.1% of total generation, while imported coal plants and hydroelectric plants contributed 23% and 14.2%, respectively.
On Thursday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 5,751 megawatt-hours, and its imports totaled 14,894 megawatt-hours.
