ANKARA

Ships of foreign armed forces will not be able to fly unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), such as aircraft and helicopters, in Turkish airspace without permission, the Official Gazette said Saturday.

Divers and frogmen onboard ships will not be able to dive for whatever purpose, while the ships of the foreign armed forces are in Turkish inland waters and ports. However, in cases that require urgent quarantine control or repair of the ship, diving can be done with the permission of Turkish authorities, accompanied by Turkish personnel.

Ships attached to foreign armed forces will report to competent authorities on relevant radio circuits, stating the name and location of the ship, within 5 miles of Turkish inland waters or ports, according to the regulation.

Foreign armed forces ships can also carry out “Emergency” and “Office” visits to Türkiye.
