Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev and Taylor Fritz advanced to the 2024 Australian Open men’s singles quarterfinals on Sunday.
Ten-time-champion Djokovic passed French Adrian Mannarino with 6-0, 6-0, 6-3 straight sets.
“The first two sets [were some] of the best sets I’ve played in a while,” said the 36-year-old after his victory.
Djokovic’s opponent in the upcoming quarterfinal, US player Taylor Fritz, eliminated World No.7 Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece, with 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-3 and 6-3 sets in round 4.
“I’m really happy,” said the 26-year-old. “I think, start to finish, I played really well. Especially, I’m super-happy about the way I finished it.”
World No.5 Andrey Rublev took out Australian Alex de Minaur with 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(4), 6-3 and 6-0 sets.
“I started to say to myself ‘No, you’re gonna die today but you will do everything’,” said the Russian. “Somehow I started to play better and better and I found more energy and I was able to win.”
Young Italian No. 4 seed Jannik Sinner outplayed Russian Karen Khachanov with 6-4, 7-5 and 6-3 straight sets.
The 22-year-old will face Rublev in the quarterfinals.
