Chelsea defender Reece James to miss rest of season for hamstring injury

ANKARA

Chelsea right-back Reece James will be ineligible for the remainder of the season for a hamstring injury.

“Reece James is unavailable for this game and probably for the rest of the season as well,” Chelsea’s caretaker manager Frank Lampard said in a news conference on Tuesday.

“Reece had a hamstring injury that he picked up in the Madrid game, got through the game, but we scanned it in the following days and he’ll be out,” he added.

The 23-year-old England defender was said to be injured during the loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals last week.

James joined Chelsea in 2019 to help the Blues win a UEFA Champions League title, UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

This season, he scored two goals and made two assists in 24 appearances for Chelsea.
