Champions League matchday 2 to start Tuesday with Real Madrid to play at Napoli

ANKARA

The UEFA Champions League matchday two will begin Tuesday as Real Madrid will visit Napoli in a Group C match in Italy.

In their opener, Napoli beat Braga 2-1 in Portugal after Sikou Niakate’s late own goal to lead the group.

Meanwhile Real Madrid barely beat Union Berlin 1-0 at home thanks to English star Jude Bellingham’s close-range finish in the 94th minute.

The Napoli vs. Real Madrid clash at Naples’ Diego Armando Maradona Stadium will kick off at 1900GMT.

This season, Real Madrid were hit by injuries.

The Spanish club’s Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Brazilian defender Eder Militao, Austrian defender David Alaba and Turkish midfielder Arda Guler were confirmed to be injured.

Italian goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, Brazilian defender Juan Jesus and Kosovo’s Amir Rrahmani were the injured Napoli players.

On Wednesday, defending winners Manchester City will face RB Leipzig in a Group G match in Germany.

Erling Haaland will go on to be the English club’s main goal threat. The Norwegian star scored five goals in Man City’s huge 7-0 home win against Leipzig in last season’s round of 16.

In the first matchday of this season, Leipzig beat Young Boys 3-1 in Switzerland to top Group G.

Meanwhile, Man City won against Serbia’s Crvena zvezda 3-1 in England, with Argentine forward Julian Alvarez scoring twice.

Home team Leipzig are likely to be without Hungarian defender Willi Orban and Spanish forward Dani Olmo due to injury problems.

English defender John Stones, Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva are not expected to play for Man City as they picked up injuries.

The game at RB Arena will start at 1900GMT.
