The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered a 120-117 defeat Wednesday at the hands of the Boston Celtics, ending their 15-game winning streak since the start of the season.
“This was a great test for us, and unfortunately we didn’t get the win,” said Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell after the game, who was its highest scorer with 35 points.
“It’s definitely a measuring stick,” he added.
The Celtics’ Jayson Tatum delivered an impressive double-double with 33 points and 12 rebounds, pivotal to his team’s victory.
Al Horford scored 20 points while Derrick White, also with the Boston team, finished with 19 points at TD Garden.
Westbrook posts 200th career triple-double in win over Grizzlies
Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook scored 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists in his team’s 122-110 win over the Memphis Grizzlies — the 200th triple-double of his career.
“Thank you to the man above. I’m truly grateful just to go out and play and given every opportunity I’ve got, just compete at the highest level. I’m grateful for so many things and especially for tonight,” Westbrook said after the game.
The NBA record holder in triple-doubles, 36-year-old Westbrook extended his lead over No. 2 Oscar Robertson to 19. He sits 64 ahead of Serbian teammate Nikola Jokic.
Besides Westbrook, Robertson, and Jokic, only two other players have surpassed the milestone of 100 career triple-doubles: Earvin “Magic” Johnson (138) and LeBron James (117).
