Casper Ruud defeats Karen Khachanov to advance to US Open men’s final

ISTANBUL

Casper Ruud advanced to the US Open men’s final Friday by beating Karen Khachanov.

The no. 5 seed from Norway won 7-6 (5), 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“I was extremely happy but at the same time, I’m humble enough to think that could be my only final in the Grand Slam in my career. It doesn’t come easy,” Ruud said after the match.

The 23-year-old will play the winner of the Frances Tiafoe versus Carlos Alcaraz match for the title.

Ruud is the first Norwegian male to reach the final of the tournament.
