Canelo beats Turkey’s Yildirim in 3 rounds

NEW YORK, NY

Turkish boxer Avni Yildirim was defeated by Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in the super middleweight title fight on Saturday.

Alvarez forced his opponent to quit on the stool after three rounds in front of 18,000 fans at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

With this win, Canelo defended his WBA, WBC titles and earned $35 million, while Yildirim got over $1 million.

Yildirim, nicknamed Turkish Wolf, has had a total of 24 professional fights so far. He won 21 matches, including 12 knockouts.

Before the fight with Alvares, the 29-year-old Turkish boxer’s last encounter was back in Feb. 2019, a match against Anthony Dirrell.
