Borsa Istanbul up by 1.8% at closing session, hitting historical high

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index​​​​​​​ hit a historically high closing level by reaching 8,486.96 points on Monday, up 1.82% versus the previous close.

The BIST 100 index earned 152.02 points from the last close and hovered between 8,367.26 and 8,511.61 points.

During the day, 67 indexes gained value, while 33 declined.

The market value of BIST 100 was around 7.3 trillion Turkish liras ($265.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 153 billion Turkish liras ($5.57 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 27.4530 as of 18.20 local time, (GMT1520), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 28.8920, with the GBP/TRY rate being 33.3310.
