Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 3,993.88 points on Tuesday, up 0.41%, or 16.36 points, from the previous close.
On Monday, BIST 100 ended the day at a new record high of 3,977.51 points, up 1.09%, and during the afternoon session, the index exceeded 4,000 points for the first time.
Investors’ demand for Turkish stocks increased with equity seen as a hedge against surging consumer prices.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.614 as of 10.10 a.m. local time (0710GMT), the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.3543, and a British pound traded for 21.0479 Turkish liras.
Brent crude oil was selling for around $93.25 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,648.70.
