Besiktas leave Conference League group stage with 2-0 win against Lugano

ANKARA

Besiktas left the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage with a 2-0 win against Swiss club Lugano on Thursday.

Cenk Tosun’s goal from a hard shot from close range brought the Black Eagles the lead at Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich.

Serkan Terzi tallied another one with a screamer from long range for the Black Eagles in the 88th minute.

Besiktas’ British midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lugano’s Swiss midfielder Renato Steffen were both sent off with red cards in the 90th minute.

Besiktas finished the group stage in third spot with four points. Lugano finished Group D at the bottom with four points and a goal difference.

Club Brugge and Bodo/Glimt, with 16 and 10 points respectively, reached the Round of 16 in Group D.
