Jude Bellingham, who joined Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in July, has made a fantastic start to his Los Merengues career.
The young English midfielder’s goal against Cadiz on Sunday paved the way for him to make a record-breaking debut on the Madrid side.
According to data from Alexis Martin Tamayo (also known as Mister Chip), a sports writer on X, Bellingham has scored 14 goals in his first 15 official games to break the previous record of 13 goals, which was shared by Real Madrid legends including Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, Argentine star Alfredo Di Stefano, and Spanish star Pruden Sanchez.
The 20-year-old’s achievement is also remarkable in another light as he broke the record as a midfielder while the previous three legendary record-holders were all attackers.
Bellingham currently tops the Spanish La Liga top scorers list with 11 goals, ahead of rival Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann, who has racked up 9 goals so far.
Jude Bellingham seems to be justifying his high price tag, which was around $113 million, despite former Belgian star player Eden Hazard, who joined Real Madrid from Chelsea for around $126 million in 2019, after Ronaldo’s departure, netting only 7 goals in four seasons with the Spanish side.
