Belgian citizen receives $1.4M electricity bill

BRUSSELS

A man living in Belgium was mistakenly issued an electricity bill of €1.3 million ($1.39 million), local media reported on Wednesday.

The Belgian national living in the town of Herseaux in the west of the country told RTL TV channel: “When I opened the bill, I thought I was hallucinating. I had to read it three times.”

According to RTL, the citizen immediately called the energy company Engie, which told him that the invoice was sent to him due to an error in the computer system.

The wrong invoice was corrected later, it added.
