Bayern Munich on Friday announced the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Raphael Guerreiro on a free transfer.

“Welcome to FC Bayern, Rapha!” the Bundesliga champions said on Twitter.

The Portugal international penned a three-year contract until June 30, 2026.

“When the call came from FC Bayern, I made my decision fast,” said Guerreiro, “It’s an honor for me to be able to play for this great club, and I also regard Thomas Tuchel highly from our time together at Dortmund.”

The French-born Portuguese joined Borussia Dortmund from Lorient in 2016 to net 40 goals and make 50 assists in 224 appearances.

He also bagged the 2016 European Championship and the 2019 UEFA Nations League trophies with Portugal.

“Raphaël Guerreiro has been among the best and most consistent players in the Bundesliga for years. He’s versatile and internationally experienced, and fits perfectly into our team as both a character and player,” said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

“We’re very happy that we’ve been able to sign him and that he’ll be wearing the FC Bayern shirt in the future. The coach and we as management are in agreement that he will undoubtedly enhance our game.”
