Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund to face off in Der Klassiker showdown

ISTANBUL

Der Klassiker will take place at Allianz Arena on Saturday, with Bayern Munich welcoming Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.

The two teams will go head-to-head in Bayern’s home ground which has a capacity of 75,024 spectators. Harm Osmers will officiate the match that will kick off at 1730 GMT.

The first Der Klassiker of the season on matchday 10, Harry Kane netted a hat-trick on his Klassiker debut and Dayot Upamecano scored the opener in the 4-0 win at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park.

Ahead of their upcoming meeting on matchday 27, Borussia Dortmund have failed to win any of the last 11 competitive Klassikers, with just one draw.

On the Bundesliga table, Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern are 10 points behind unbeaten leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who have 70 points in 26 matches.

Edin Terzic’s Dortmund are fourth with 50 points.

Bayern Munich’s most lethal weapon this season has so far been Harry Kane.

England star Kane, 30, scored 31 goals in 26 German top-tier clashes since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

He broke the record for the most goals scored in a debut Bundesliga season with his 31st strike for Bayern Munich, beating the previous record of 30 set by Uwe Seeler in the 1963-64 season.

Donyell Malen and Niclas Fullkrug, who scored 11 goals each, are expected to play key roles for Borussia Dortmund on the field.
