ANKARA
RA Barcelona announced Tuesday that Spanish basketballer Ricky Rubio has returned to the team.
The 33-year-old guard will stay with Barca until the end of the season, according to a statement.
The agreement depends on the player’s progress as he is in the final stages of his recovery, the statement added.
In August 2023, Rubio said he was stepping away from basketball to take care of his mental health.
He then announced in January that he was ending his NBA career.
Rubio helped Barcelona bag their second Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title in 2010 along with a Liga ACB title in 2011 before moving to NBA franchise the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He also played for the Utah Jazz, the Phoenix Suns and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA.
